In preparation for Christmas, my church has been doing a series call Jesus Hope of the World. As I think over the last few services and about the state of the world, it is so true that Jesus is the HOPE of the World.
There are many people who don’t believe in the power of Jesus’ name, and I don’t hate nor condemn them for it. Instead I’m just sadden. Sadden that they will never feel the hope I feel.
Jesus gives me hope that the world will change one day. Jesus gives me the hope that one day all my decedents will not have to fear their lives are in danger just because of how brown their skin is or what their religious background is.
All the pain and turmoil of this world is enough to make anyone want to give up…. But it wasn’t enough for God to give up!!!
God gave us himself as a present. God made a way for him and his creation to once again be near. God humbled himself to the form of humanity and took ALL OUR WAGES OF SIN!!
Jesus came as a baby, died as a man, but didn’t stay dead.
The devil tried everything he could to keep our savior from being our savior. But God had other plans. There is nothing the devil can do that God can’t overcome.
Our gift is that Jesus is the one who reconciled us to God. Jesus is the one who shows us that God is much powerful that the devil. We see that in the earthly life of Jesus, we have all the power to resist anything the devil tries to throw at us.
Our gift from God is that Jesus is our hope. And our gift to the world is to show the hope that Jesus has given us.
As Christians, we need to stop thinking about our own issues and our own lives. Jesus went out into the world to provide them a hope they never knew before. We need to do the same thing. We have to find the avenue God wants to use us in, and then allow him to use us.
This Christmas, and every other day of the year, we need to think of others. We need to serve others. We need to love others.
