Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick.
Matthew 4:23 – 24a NLT
Our God is so marvelous and great. From the beginning of his ministry, Jesus was healing. Jesus built his reputation up as the person to go to when we need healing from the ailments of life. That’s why so many people brought the sick to him.
There is so much power in the fact that others brought the sick to Jesus. Sickness takes a significant toll on the body, which is why those who are sick can’t bring themselves. They needed a third party. They needed a loving person who was willing to be inconvenienced enough to allow change to happen.
We are the third party for our sick co workers struggling with anger. We are the ones willing to push aside our To Do list for our sick friends dealing with cancer and infertility. We are the loving voice that is speaking life into our family members dealing with mental illness.
We are God’s children, charged with the duty of bringing the sick to Jesus.
We can not assume that those sick around us have enough strength to seek God’s face. Verse 24 tells us that the news of Jesus was spreading and people were going to Jesus. WE have to do the same. We can’t just spread the Gospel of Salvation. We must be active in seeking for Jesus, bringing the lost and sick to him.
And we do this in prayer. We pray for the health of those around us. We have to always be in prayer over them, speaking life into their darkness. Sometimes our loved ones may never know we are praying for them, but they will feel the effects of our prayer.
Choose 3 people that you know are suffering with any kind of sickness. Then find two scriptures for each person that you can spend the week praying over them.
