A lot of the times, we are are worst enemy!
Too many times in our lives we put ourselves down because we feel incompetent. We can dwell on our faux pas, replaying the words of the enemy to ourselves over and over again.
But this is not where we should be! God did not design us to be a creation that is always questioning the craftsmanship of the creator. So here are 4 tips to help you to stop putting yourself down.
Tip #1: Know Your Worth
You are a beautiful woman of God! You are capable of doing anything that God places you into. But because of the conditioning is mankind, we as women sometimes forget who we are in Christ. God did not make us to be timid. God did not form us to question our royalty. There are so many great qualities we have and we need to always remind ourselves of them.
Tip #2: Don’t compare yourself to others
If you are anything like me, then you might make up stories in your head about the way people perceive you. Many times we compare ourselves to the people around us, and try to be the person we think they want to see. We change who we are to please others, while we are dieing inside.
Comparing ourselves to others leads us to becoming just a shell of who we are supposed to be. The outside is beautiful and put together, while the parts no one can see are hollow and dark. This will cause us to sink into a place where we become so susceptible to the voice of Satan.
Tip #3: Forgive Your Mistakes
Forgiveness can be a very hard thing to do, especially when we have to forgive ourselves. A lot of the time we don’t find it necessary and think we can just move on. But if we don’t allow ourselves to take a moment and forgive our mistakes then we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to grow. We have to reflect on the wrong things we did, so that we can not make similar mistakes in the future. We also have to analyze why we did the things we did so that we can grow from them and become more like Christ.
We have to remember that God forgave our sins. It doesn’t make any sense for us to keep thinking about them, if God doesn’t think about them.
Tip #4: Take your negative thoughts captive
Out of all four of these tips to stop putting yourself down, the hardest for some might be this one. We have to take all our negative thoughts captive!! The reason why it is so hard is because we have to do a complete mind shift. We are so use to talking bad about ourselves that we don’t know what a positive inner voice should sound like.
Taking our thoughts captive and bringing them to God has to be an active choice. When we start talking to ourselves in a way that contradicts the word of God, then we have to choose to stop. We have to make ourselves give the situation over to God and allow him to speak truth into us.
